About Roy W. Litherland EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Roy Litherland has been providing legal services in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties continuously since 1975.
Roy has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Indiana State University,
and a Juris Doctor degree from Indiana University, where he graduated cum laude
and won honors in the areas of income taxation and estate and gift taxation.
He graduated from law school in 1973. Roy was a member of the legal fraternity
of Phi Delta Phi and president of the local chapter at Indiana University Law
School in 1972-73. In law school he was a recipient of the Dean Faust Award
and received awards and honors in income taxation and estate and gift taxation.
Roy was previously licensed as a Certified Public Accountant. Roy served as
an intern at Price Waterhouse & Company, on the audit staff of Peat, Marwick
Mitchell & Company, and with the tax staff of Arthur Andersen & Company.
He has also been an instructor for the Becker CPA Review Course. Although Roy
has an extensive background in accounting, Roy retired his license to practice
as a CPA to devote his time and energy entirely to the practice of law, specializing
in estate planning, trusts, Medi-Cal planning, and probate.
Roy served as president of the Santa Clara County Easter Seal Society for one
year and on its board of directors for five years. He is also a member of the
Order of Saint John, Queen’s Club, Letterman’s Club, and Elk’s
Club.

Roy is certified as a Legal Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization.

FAMILY / COMMUNITY
Roy is married and has two grown children. He is an active member of numerous public service and charitable organizations. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968-1970.
