About William A. Hartley

William A. Hartley began his career as a Certified Public Accountant in Boston, Massachusetts. During that time he attended law school in the evening and graduated from Suffolk University Law School with a JD degree, and Boston University Law School with a LLM degree in Tax Law. He then served as the Senior Tax Executive for four Fortune 500 sized companies, until he opened his own law firm in 1991. He also graduated from the Boston University Program for Financial Planners and became licensed as a Certified Financial Planner. Mr. Hartley concentrates his legal practice in estate planning and related areas of law. He is licensed in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He gives “Living Trust” and “Estate Planning” seminars in New Hampshire and has served clients throughout the state. By limiting his practice, he is able to stay up-to-date on all aspects of estate planning, while maintaining competitive fees for his legal services. His goal is to provide better quality and service than other attorneys who offer estate planning as a part-time sideline to their other legal services. In addition, his membership in the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys is a contributing factor toward meeting these goals. The Academy consists of estate planning attorneys nationwide, who have banded together and hired professional staff to advise them on all aspects of estate planning. They meet face-to-face two times annually to improve their legal skills regarding estate planning. Mr. Hartley is the Academy’s only member in New Hampshire. Mr. Hartley is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and has served as President of its New Hampshire Chapter.

Education

Mr. Hartley’s degrees and certifications are as follows: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting), Juris Doctor law degree, Master of Law in Tax Law, Certified Public Accountant, and Certified Financial Planner. He is licensed to practice law in all the courts of New Hampshire, Massachusetts and the United States Tax Court.

Personal

He also volunteers as President of the Homemakers Foundation, Inc., a charitable organization in New Hampshire. Their goal is to help people remain in their own home as long as they wish, instead of going to a nursing home. In addition Mr. Hartley has been elected to the post of Trustee of Trust Funds in his home town of Hampton. This is a $16,000,000 fund which must be managed for the benefit of the town.
