Birthplace: I am a native of California. I grew up in Merced, California and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Modesto, California. I am the youngest of eight. With summertime weather similar to Yuma, Merced is approximately 80 miles from Yosemite National Park and home to the latest University of California.
Residence: I currently live in sunny Yuma, AZ. My wife, Toni and I chose to live in Yuma because it’s perfectly located. Only 3 hours from the beautiful beaches of San Diego where I enjoy surfing and spending time with the kids at the beach and about 3.5 hours from Tucson where my parents currently reside and where we enjoy running the numerous desert trails.
Family: I am married. My wife Toni Marie and I have 4 children.
Education: After graduating from high school in 1993, I studied chamber music and theory at Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute of Music. I received by Bachelor’s degree from the University of San Diego in Philosophy in 1997. In 2001, I received my Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
Occupation: Before joining the Deason Law Firm, I worked over two years as a Deputy County Attorney with the Yuma County Attorney’s Office in both the criminal and civil divisions. As a prosecutor, I handled and tried cases ranging from simple misdemeanors to complex white-collar financial crimes. And, I litigated civil asset forfeitures and mental health commitment proceedings.
What do you do in your spare time? I enjoy teaching martial arts. I have over twenty-two years of training and experience in the Mandarin art of Shou Shu. Shou Shu is a complete fighting system that incorporates seven fighting animal styles of china brought to the United States by Al Moore Sr. Mastery of each animal style requires learning the proper application of chi (energy) through body motion and can range from 2 to 5 years.
What did you think you were going to be growing up? I wanted to be a musician and martial artist. As a result, I became am a professional violinist and performed at the University of San Diego and the Orvieto Musica Festival. Before law school, I produced and recorded Jamaican jazz recordings with my group named The King Kingston Orchestra. We incorporated the arranging skills of Carlos Malcolm (musical arranger for the first James Bond film, “Dr.No.”). It was my experiences with the entertainment industry that forged the path to becoming a lawyer.

What would you like to be doing in 10 years? I see myself at the Deason Law Firm, and hopefully owning a martial arts school on the side.
If you were independently wealthy, what would you do with your time and money? I would travel and live in Italy and the South Pacific. Also, I would like to walk the pilgrim trail of Santiago de Compostella in Spain and the Great Wall of China. After some prudent estate planning, I would share material wealth with family, friends, and charitable religious organizations.
