About Christopher Langley
Christopher Langley is an attorney admitted to practice in both California and Georgia. His practice is focused on financial assistance through estate planning and bankruptcy. Through the combination of those practice areas, he is able partner with his client to both protect and preserve their assets and allow them to create a lasting legacy.
He was admitted to the California bar in 2008 and received his legal specialization in bankruptcy in 2017. He has been a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys since 2022.
Prior to law School, Chris’s first legal job was working for a small estate planning office. Estate planning always felt like a natural fit. Chris gravitated towards bankruptcy law and in his final year of law school he externed for Honorable Richard Nieter, a bankruptcy judge in the Central District of California, Los Angeles. Upon graduating, Chris started working at a mid-sized law firm in Costa Mesa where he primarily represented banks and major vehicle finance companies in bankruptcy and well as providing legal training to their staffs.
After a few years in practice, Chris decided to strike out on his own and established the “Langley Law Firm”. The firm quickly expanded and within a few years, Chris partnered up with Steven P. Chang forming “Langley & Chang.” In the fall of 2020, Steven and Chris partnered with Gene Shioda in order to create a full-service law firm and established Shioda Langley & Chang. In July of 2021, SLC moved their headquarters to San Gabriel, CA.
Chris is a Southern California native; born in Whittier. He is the second of seven children. After High School, Chris considered being a Catholic priest and spent six years in the seminary including a year in Monterrey, Mexico doing outreach work, and two years in Rome, Italy where he graduated magna cum laude from Regina Apostolorum Pontifical Athenaeum with a bachelor’s in philosophy and a minor in Art History. While in Rome, Chris also worked as a translator in the Vatican.
After Rome, Chris moved to Orange County and began a career in Human Resources and Recruiting. His work in human resources ultimately led him to law school and he enrolled at Loyola Marymount Law School.
Chris married Lupe Garcia in 2017 at the Santa Barbara Courthouse. Lupe is a special needs public school teacher who works with children on the spectrum. Chris and Lupe have two little boys together.
On the weekends, you can find Chris touring local California campsites with the Airstream or playing chauffeur to his two boys.
